    it issues certificates attesting to the ability of applicants to work as fishermen or fishermen’s helpers according to the requirements of the commercial fishery.

    advising the Minister on any matter relating to the occupational competence of fishers and fisher’s helpers.

    • The BAPAP Act was passed on June 19, 1999, and amended by the National Assembly on June 15, 2006. This law established BAPAP as a legal entity. It also specified its mission and powers and defined the composition and operation of its Board of Directors.
    • BAPAP’s administrative offices are located in Grande-Rivière, in the Gaspé Peninsula, in premises rented from the École des pêches et de l’aquaculture du Québec.
    • Under the supervision of the Board of Directors, a permanent employee (Olivier Nolleau) is in charge of the general management and sees to the follow-up of the administrative and financial files. A permanent employee (Marie-Pier Vallée) is in charge of the data entry.
